I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read. The world building, the characters and the plot. All good. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

The FMC thinks purposefully manipulating people for shiny new trinkets or an otherwise monetary gain is perfectly fine, if the person being manipulated is an asshole. ”[…] everyone new those types had it coming. They deserved a little manipulation once in a while.” That’s… nice. What a lovely heroine, treating people like disposable ATMs to feed her own vanity.
The overall writing is also just not good. ”Some rich somebody in a sweet ride was bearing down, ready to cut the legs out from under me! He or she wouldn’t think to stop for a poor girl—I was about to be a new hood ornament.” I don’t even know where to begin with that. Safe to say I definitely don’t vibe with the writing.
But I thought I shouldn’t judge the book too quickly and at least wait to read the chapter from the MMC’s perspective before I make my final decision.
When I tell you, within one SINGLE paragraph this man managed to piss me off beyond repair. It’s literally the first paragraph in his first chapter POV and already he’s outed himself to be a classist POS. To him, poor people are, and I quote, ”derelicts with no self-respect” from the “disgusting part of town” or they’re just straight up criminals, nothing more.
Someone give me a Ferrari to run him over with, thank you and good riddance.
