Holy crap what the hell were you thinking Stephanie Meyer?
I thought this would be good. While the Twilight Series was good I thought she used too little of the books to make an actual plot and most of it was developing characters. She relied on the series to develop a tiny plot of the course of four books. So my theory was that with a single book, not a series she would actually put a lot of plot into it since it was one book.
God this book was painful. It took me about three months to finish it because I couldn't bare it any longer. As usual the characters were well developed and the plot... well in this case the plot was good but dragged.... and dragged and dragged. The ending 100 pages or so was great but it took 500 freaking pages to get there. So many chapters were so freaking pointless and too much was nonsense that didn't matter.
So effing sappy too. As usual the main character is in love with a dude... that has no appeal what so ever. HE IS AN ASSHOLE. Why would anyone love an asshole? COME ON. At least make the love interest a decent human. God dammit. So not only does to plot drag but you're forced to listen to Jared Jared Jared, Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. Obnoxious.
Whatever. I gave it a two star because I thought the end was somewhat worth it, the overall plot was new and interesting... parasitic human end of the human race it all seemed interesting enough, but over all it was rather painful and annoying.

The very beginning of the book was somewhat confusing, however everything was explained for the most part.
I found the entire book to be pretty compelling and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I was sad about the inevitable end that seemed to be around the corner but I was happy with how it ended.
It's a different situation but I was happy that Wanda ended up with Ian in the end, but it still seemed strange to not see Jared through her/Melanie's eyes after the change.
Overall though, it was a great story of not just love but comradeship, family, and friendships against all odds.

I didn't realize how much I missed reading a Stephanie Meyer book! This was so beautifully written and I loved everything about it. The characters, the plot, the uncertainty of it all was done so well! 100% recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sci-fi fantasy!

I feel like this book has mixed reviews, but I absolutely adored it & couldn’t put it down until I finished. I read this 5 years ago and I still randomly think about it all the time

A book I’ve read 100 times and could probably read 100 more.
Intuitive, tense, heart-wrenching, and beautiful.
