The last one was not a disappointment, it really wrapped everything up. I like how every book began with Harry's birthday and ended at the beginning of summer. I grew attached to the students at Hogwarts and the members of the Order of the Phoenix.
I didn't read this this year. I did however read 4094 pages of fanfic (one shots and fics too short to count as a work read [shorter than 40.000 words])
I love the Harry Potter books. . . I'm of that lucky generation that grew up with them, got my first book on my 11th birthday and they've been part of my go-to book pile ever since.
A magnificent masterpiece that will always be remembered and shared with new generations. I can't believe it took me this long to decide to read it. I sure was missing out
Love this series! It brings me joy in my darkest times and it introduced me to the world of books, it introduced me to the world of fantasy. Even though I love this series, I do not associate myself or my feelings about the series with the author.
After my 2020 re-read I would rank these awesome books like this:
1.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - although most people seem to agree that this is a good and satisfying finale I very rarely see it at the top of these lists but for me it is right there. Everything is this book is perfection to me and this time I cried even more than the first time around.
2.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - a very dark and serious entry in the series and also the one where Harry deals with PTSD. I get why people find him annoying in this book but it is so incredibly realistic like in no other MG/YA novel I've read.
3.Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - I love the Triwizard Tournament despite its tiny logical issues and I very much appreciated the darker tone of it after the very nostalgic first three books. We already learn in the prologue that things are getting serious.
4.Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - This is the first book were the trio deals with very realistic teenage issues and I love the story about the Marauders with all of my heart. This book would probably be higher if it would be longer and if I had not such conflicting feelings about the time-turner.
5.Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - This was my least favorite HP-book for a very long time but know I've come to appreciate it a lot more. However, it is still a huge set-up for book 7 and I'm just not as much into the romantic subplots. My favorite parts were
6.Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - It should be so much higher just for nostalgic reasons but it has probably the least interesting plot and the least relevant for the later books. However, it is still an amazing entry for the series and the introduction of its magic is fabulous.
7.Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Most people seem to agree that this is the most plothole-heavy (is it a word?) book in the series and I'm no exception to that rule. Needless to say that I still love this book.
5 of 5 stars for the entire series

One of my favorite series of all times!
Favorite books of all time. Read the series close to 10 times total. I find amazing new things every time I read them. Do you know anyone else who highlights and cross references their set? I don't think so. Call me obsessive, I don't care. Seriously, if you have not read these books, we probably can't be friends and you are missing out on a huge piece of modern culture.
