This book is a must-read for history majors. Trouillot skillfully probes the nature of history, truth, and fact. Anyone who reads, writes, or thinks critically about history should read this book.

It was very good and informational and interesting I was just very bored at times. It was like a textbook. But also not. I really liked the ending the most.

An interesting read. It's a philosophy of history, trailing how history is made, and showing how silences can come of it. A very interesting read.

not going to Rate it, because i kinda skimmed, but trouillot is a powerful writer. i just slept for two hours and drank coffee, and now i’m sitting on the toilet writing this (7:37 am) and my feet are asleep the way i’d like to be. time to finish my already-extended assignment ... such is life. at least i can read

This was a good read for the most part. There were times when the language got to be a bit lofty and it made some of the concepts hard to understand but overall a good overview of how history is created and how different interests can affect what history we learn and what history we don’t learn.
