This was a great read. The last 30% was a roller coaster of discoveries and was worth reading the 500+ pages. Just when you thought you had figured out what was going on, something turns those thoughts on their head. That being said, I think this book could have been shorter.
What the author did very well, for me anyway, was making the characters real - not all good and not all bad - which contributed to the mystery. I felt loyalty to certain characters that was then tested by new revelations. And she managed to make me have strong feelings towards a certain character that barely appeared in the book!
It was great to read a book in a different part of the world. I don't get to read about Australia often.

This was a mystery with plenty of twists and turns - just when you think you have one part figured out, there's another mystery to solve. Jess returns home to Sydney, Australia to care for her sick grandmother and ends up discovering that her family was involved in a terrible tragedy many years earlier. As her grandmother lays dying in the hospital, Jess digs further into the mystery and tries to learn more about who her grandmother really is. Although this was a slow start for me, once it picked up, it was hard to put down.
I wasn't feeling it, this book is also way too long. I'm don't want to spend this much time reading a book I don't care about.

I really enjoyed this - an interesting reflection on family history and connection and how that relates to who we are and how we experience the world. The shift between viewpoints, and the past and present was done well. I liked the inclusions of exerts from the true crime novel.
Whilst I didn’t guess the ending entirely, the Nora/Polly plot line was very obvious. I also thought it lacked some closure in regards to Nora, and they all moved on VERY quickly regarding the truth, which caused massive shifts in their personal identifies/the core of who they were - this didn’t come across in writing.
