I feel so conflicted rating this because it was an objectively good book in terms of complexity and care. But I just wanted it to be over almost the whole time. For those that enjoy epic fantasies, I absolutely would recommend, but I just can’t make myself enjoy one where everyone talks with formal diction. I couldn’t feel the emotional depth of the characters, and whenever I did, it would change scenes almost immediately. The romance did carry this book, I must say, though it wasn’t enough for me. But hey, I can say I finished it.

To be honest, at first I was going to give this book a 4-star rating 😅 because it was slightly too long and it took me forever to finish this book (I honestly had some days there I just couldn't read more than one chapter 😔) BUT these characters deserve a 5-star rating. I love that all of them were quite complex, they had these interesting and very well thought-out backgrounds. Each of the characters' points of view that we got, was very interesting and attention-grabbing 👏🙌 Some of them were more annoying than others (*cough* Doctor Roos *cough*), but I was still excited to read about each of them.
