This book was stunning- in the age of shadow daddies and flawless MC’s I expect so little of acclaimed fantasies, but this blew me away.
The world building is rich and vibrant, each nation has a distinct culture and religion and history. The characters are complex and flawed and the story is woven throughout the different POVs flawlessly.
I couldn’t put this one down, for the first time in a long time.
I didn’t love that more than one of the main characters were in same sex relationships but the story was well written.

I loved this book so much! In the beginning I had to check the guide at the back to keep track of who's who, but after that it was easy. I loved the characters and I loved the story. This is the best fantasy novel I've ever read. I'd love to read more books in this world. I highly recommend it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book- loved the characters, the unexpected main love interests, the concept of the story and the world building. It is a solid fantasy book and definitely up there with one of my favourites in terms of the story and writing style. My main issue with the book is the pacing- the main portion of the book is a bit slow- not slow enough to be boring- but slow. In comparison, the ending was way too rushed- the first 800 pages of this book built up to something that started and ended within the final 40 pages. So, for the underwhelming (but satisfying?) ending, I cannot give it 5 stars
