Exploration of the ties between Musicals and Noir is very thorough and presents some interesting viewpoints on pictures one might not instantly associate with noir (Moulin Rouge, West Side Story). The picture that the book revolves around is BLUES IN THE NIGHT and jazz plays a prominent role in Biesens' well thought-out thesis.
