This book had a great set up.

Chinese woman forced to give up her child without knowing... and then following her child to the US. It had the set up, just not the right execution. I wished this book was hundreds of pages longer just so I could go deeper into Lucy's experience as a 'almost' sex worker.

This was a good mystery! It actually had me wondering about who did what and when, which is unusual. A lot of times I can see what’s coming or what someone has done that has contributed to the plot…. So for that it’s four stars from me!

The ending was a little syrupy… and the author didn’t really have any place to take the story other than where she did.

I would have liked to meet Jasmine tho. Such a strong woman.
