I went in expecting a standard historical fiction book but came out really appreciating the development of the characters while also broadening my understanding of Ellis Island. Difficult to read at times but realistic for the time period.

As much as the writing is great and the characters are strong females, I just can't get interested in the story and am struggling to pick this up.

I love the Ellis Island part of the book. The reason it's not a 5-star from me is that elements of the plot were completely predictable, I saw them coming from a million miles away. It's really a 3.5-star book for me.
It was fun to read a historical fiction centered around Ellis Island and I found it quite engaging.
