Faber's writing style is wonderful and his stories seem sophisticated, but they always leave me feeling like they are more veneer than actual substance.

I think I particularly enjoyed the Story of Sophie - it's nice to find out where she ended up and the lightly more ambiguous fate of Sugar. It was lovely revisiting some characters from Crimson Petal. Great book :)

I really wished I could've gotten more answers as to what happened to the characters. I felt like I was left hanging...and I still have so many questions.

Pointless extension of The Crimson Petal and the White, picking up major and minor characters after or before events from the original book. Well written, but the more rigid chapters lack the fluidity of the main book and I didn't feel like these were stories that were desperate to be told.

Like watching a great 3 hour film then having 30 minutes of deleted scenes/alternate endings - its nice to still be in that world but they don't really add anything to the characters or original story. Definitely don't read if you haven't read Crimson Petal..., hard to recommend if you have.

Since I'd read pretty terrible reviews, I expected it to be worse than it actually was. Most of the stories are pretty forgettable, but I found the emotions of the last one convincing despite its obviousness. And the fluff was actually quite a pleasant change after The Crimson Petal and the White.

Well, I got this book from the library as I'd wanted to know more of what happened after Crimson Petal, but... well, this didn't answer as many questions as I would have liked. More disappointing was the fact that the stories really didn't hold my attention at all. I found them flat and a little uninspired. Never mind, at least I got it from the library rather than having bought it!
