A tiny bit disappointed, I think my expectations for this were just a bit too high and I thought it would explore occultism and the supernatural a lot more than it did. Nevertheless, it’s very Tokarczuk, in the sense that it’s slow, character-driven, detail-oriented, fragmented, and beautiful. It explores the workings of the human mind, early 20th century psychoanalysis, death, ghosts, and family.
Took me way too long to read as I really just did not care for most of the characters, though that being said, I would read an entire book about the twins or Teresa in a heartbeat.
