A murder mystery without anything terribly upsetting and time travel? I had fun.
3.5 stars. Lots of twists and turns but ended up being a bit predictable. The twists in the middle got me good but by the end I had it figured out so it ended up being a tad underwhelming
True rating is 4.5 stars but since I can’t do that, I’ll give it 4.
The beginning was a bit tough to get through and definitely takes a good while to really get invested, but once the plot thickens it gets JUICY and I had so many different guesses. I ended up being right about one thing but off completely on another. All in all - a fun and entertaining read that I’d definitely recommend!

When I read the description of this book after perusing a few options on Amazon, I was initially drawn in. The tale of a woman whose son commits murder (uncharacteristically) one evening, and in her journey to save him, is transported back in time, reliving several days before he commits the crime.
I wondered: how will they write this so that we’re not bored by the repetition of the same day relived?
However, I was blown away by this story and how it was told.
Jen, our main character, is a mom and a lawyer, and she wants desperately to understand why her son, Todd, has committed this crime, why he confesses to it, and why he seems to have no remorse. It’s so unlike the son she’s raised and the boy she’d grown to know over the last 18 years.
But, as she travels through time, reliving not just the day before, but several days before the crime, she unravels a tale that goes beyond the simple excuse that her son is just a cold-blooded killer.
In fact, through her travels, Jen discovers incredible truths about her husband, her family, her son, and herself.
It’s a tale that reminds us that every decision we make has consequences and that often, the experiences we perceive as mundane may just be where we’ve dodged horrific circumstances in our own lives.

Wow! Easily 5 stars from me and amongst my top 5 books ever read. This is a fall themed psychological thriller that has a time travel/ time loop element that is so unique and captivating. In addition to the suspense and twists throughout, it is ultimately a heart warming story about love in the nuclear family and how far you will go to protect them.
