This is quite disturbing, intense & emotional to read. I definitely found it hard to read at times because of the intensity. The book & writing were fine but I think this sort of topic isn't the best for me to read.

This is a heartwrenching account of abuse. I was hrorrified while reading this, mainly because I know that this happens often, unfortunately. Hell, every day, all over the world across every strata of society. I recommend the book, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Very repetitive and while what Lisa went through was terrible, the fact that she could have run away keeps me from completely feeling bad for her. Years 12-18 could have been avoided. It's insane how so many ppl did nothing to help her though. Unbelievable.

This book is gutting.
An intimate, searing portrayal of just how bad child and sexual abuse can get, and how horrible things can be for kids if they don't have anyone to protect them.
It's definitely not an easy book to read, and I imagine many won't be able to finish it. Books like this are so incredibly important, though. The simple reality of these stories being put into the world sheds light on the darkest shadows of the human psyche and makes people a little more aware.

Such a very heartwarming end that I proceeded to googling Lisa James and tried to find any means to contact her for I wanted to tell her how much I applaud her for surviving such a tragic past. I can't imagine how I would have been in the same situation. Thank you Lisa.
