Prequel to the new Star Trek Discovery Series. This focuses on how Dr. Stamets discovers the mycelial network and eventually becomes Lt. Stamets at Star Fleet.

Read it with my daughter. Not bad, enjoyed it.

I enjoy reading these prequels to the Discovery storyline. I like the characters and seeing them in earlier stages of their life is satisfying to me.

As a fan of Star Trek Discovery (& Paul Stamets in particular), I’m so glad this exists! We got more insight to Stamets’ life before joining Starfleet, his work with mycelium, and the start of his relationship with Culber - all what I was hoping for. That said, this primarily expands on things that have already been mentioned/alluded to on the show without offering much that’s new. It read more like it was fleshing out what we already knew rather than giving us any new insights. Still worth reading for Discovery fans though.

I haven't read any comics for a long time, but this is a delightful glimpse into some of the backstory of both the development of the Spore Drive, the discovery of Prototaxities Stellaviatori and it's possibilities, how Tilly came to be part of Stamets' team on board ship and the first meeting and early days of the relationship between Paul Stamets and Hugh Culber.

Nice artwork and dialogue capturing the characters from the TV series.

Oh my God. I love seeing this history of Paul Stametz, how he ended up on Disco and how he and Hugh met. It was a quick read but delightful.

Hugh Culber and Paul Stamets are among my favorite Star Trek characters and my favorite Star Trek couple. Was very glad to read this comic book story regarding how they met. It also added some more details to Paul's character and how he ended up joining Starfleet. Would have been even better if this was a mini-series and had included equal development for Hugh as it did for Paul.

Enjoyed it. Prequel to the series covering how Stamets got into 'shrooms, met the doctor, and got on the Discovery.

This was so awesome to read a prequel comic to the show. This comic explored Stamet's hypothesis on the mycelial network "Stella", but most importantly we got to see how he met Culber. That part was really bittersweet for me. This was so good. I hope there will be more comics in the Discovery line. I feel really invested in Discovery. One of the hardest things to wrap my head around is that if the mycelial network was discovered before the events of TOS, why was it never used? Hopefully we will get more answers.
