I wasn’t sure about this book, but the violence doesn’t stay as extreme after the opening. Davi may be angry enough to become the Dark Lord, but she never quite loses all of her compassion.

I had a good time reading this book even if sometimes the humor was a bit over-the-top for me. I generally like humorous fantasy and this was no exception.
I liked seeing the change in Davi aftershe realized she might actually die permanently , but I do feel like that could have come a bit earlier in the story as I was getting a bit tired of her irreverence and carelessness for human(oid) life by the midpoint of the book, but that might just be personal preference. I did like seeing her build relationships with people and I wish we got to see a bit more of that.
I do feel like this was more of a Part One rather than a Book One, as I didn’t think the ending was as satisfying as I’d like, what with all the unanswered questions about the worldbuilding left.
All in all, this was a fun romp and I might continue the series in the future when I’m in the mood for something light and humorous.

There is a lot of polarisation about this book being vulgar and violent, and that the first person female character reads like they are written by a man who really doesn't know much about women. I very much agree with all of those things, but it was still a wild ride and worth 5 stars in my opinion.

Another fun book about a heroine deciding to be evil. Davi is a Chosen One who has not been able to win, and she's tried many many times. Every time she dies, she's taken back to beginning of the adventure. But it never works. So this times she has decided to kill the wizard that brought her to this world and join the bad guys. She begins to make connections with her former enemies and wrestle with ethics.
