Very informative. Wonderful read about amazing women who made not one but a few differences in the world. We have them to thank for almost everything, starting with our wifi. Thank goodness.

I don't have much to say about this one. For the most part, each woman were interesting to read and they were well diverse with LBGT+ and different races women too. The writing was a lot of fun, but quite average. I liked that there was interviews on currently wonderful women in the world. I did feel like I had to put the book down after every biography because it's just so facts focus, which is the whole point. It was just a lot sometimes in one sitting.

True rating; 5 stars

A great collection of mini-biographies for truly wonderful women, that is as well as informative - myth-busting some unsurprising thefts from not-wonderful men - it is also diverse and irreverently entertaining.

A wonderful primer on many women in history we should all know more about! I'd like to slip a copy into everyone's stockings at Christmas. It's so digestible and funny; I highly recommend it.

-I had so much fun reading about all these wonderfully talented, courageous women. I only knew of four of them previously, which saddens me. On the bright side, now I'm looking forward to researching more about these ladies (especially the women in science).
-I would've totally given this book five stars if the writing was different. The author inserted her opinion into the biographies, and tried to appeal to a modern audience by writing juvenile exclamations. For me, it distracted from the explanations of the woman's life and experiences when the author would add unnecessary bits like that.

I LOVED this book. It's the type of book I would have wanted when I was a younger kid.

Not only is Maggs a really funny writer, but they are also really clever and diverse; for example, the first person in this novel who was interviewed was a transgender woman, and many of the women written about in the novel are women of colour, lesbian or bisexual women, and there's a transgender woman from the 1700s (I believe. It might have been the 1600s).

This book was so well put together too. Overall, I really, really loved it, and would totally recommend it to anyone.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC!

Short bios of all the kick ass women in history that we don't know of!

I took my time to truly savour this book, although one could just as easily get absorbed and finish it in one sitting. I loved Maggs' writing style (plus, I feel like we would hit it off as super cool gal pals, though not necessarily the the 'just gals being pals' she sometimes mentions in the book 😉). Anyway, each story is well researched and entertaining, and so I took the time to immerse myself in these stories and learn more about each of the women referenced. I'm sort of sad to be done reading this, so might need to go back and start over. I'll probably buy copies of this for my daughters, nieces, friends....

In the meantime, Ms Maggs: please, please tell me you've got a sequel planned; also, we should grab a coffee sometime!

While I was very interested in this topic, the writing style defeated me. This is marketed as an adult book, but I think it would be more appealing to teens -- breezy, informal, and full of exclamations. I appreciate that the author is trying to make history more accessible to a generation that finds history a deadly dull subject; I am just not the target audience.

I really did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did...the writing was fresh and witty. Definitely worth reading again at some point!
