Interesting start

This was an interesting start to this series. I'm intrigued to see where it goes from here. The cliffhanger ending makes me glad that I waited to start until a few volumes were out.

This little novel is the first in a series of novels about a Vampiric romance and isn't usually my type of reading, but I had a lot of fun with it, it's short and easy to read. Maybe this first book has a lot of information and the balance is strange at the end because the plot itself does not develop too much, but I still enjoyed it and I would like to continue with the rest of the novels in the future. I loved the construction of the world and the characters are interesting enough.

3.5, technically!

*It was pretty short, obviously, being a novella, but I was intrigued. I enjoyed the characters -- Drew, in particular. He's just the best. Such a happy, optimistic, friendly guy! Charlie is also an enjoyable character, for me. She's incredibly naive, understandably-so. It's interesting seeing her figuring out just, the normal world. Going from being a party-girl princess, to basically out on her ass and trying to survive, and being genuinely terrified.

*But being so short, I wasn't personally able to really get GRABBED by it. The writing style was fine and good--the depiction of the "hunger" the vampires feel was done really well, I felt, in particular. This is the authors' first time co-authoring and I think they did a really good job with that. I haven't read anything else by Jessi Elliot, but I couldn't "tell" that it was two different voices telling the story.

*The plot was good so far as well -- my interest is definitely piqued and I fully intend to read the other installments! The second one is released on the 12th and I already preordered it. Very curious to see where it all goes... !

A fascinating idea and I like the way the authors spun their version of vampires. Charlie is a nice protagonist who is thrust into unfortunate circumstances and does her best to survive. I like the other characters involved too, especially Drew and Nina but I felt we didn't get enough time with them for me to figure them out quite yet.

I enjoyed the writing and the characters. The prose and characters are nicely written and I had no problems imagining each character with their own personalities.

Overall, I think there's potential in this story and it's promising some future intrigues but perhaps I'm not used to reading serials but I kind of expected more of a story and character arc in this first installment. It read more like the first third of a book to me, but again, that might be because I'm unfamiliar with the reading and pacing of serials. I had hoped there would be a huge revelation at the end than what we were given but I'm still interested in finding out what happens next.

3 out of 5 rating for me!

“I’ve got those, too, princess. And mine is bigger”
What is bigger than mine? Your anxiety after finishing this marvelous first volume? Don’t think so!

I am trying to keep this review as professional and straightforward as possible. But, I am incapable of doing so when I get to damn invested in a story. So hear my rant!

GET. THIS. BOOK. NOW.

I am serious. As serious as Alexander Travesty.

(At least it was straightforward.)
