A great and interesting story!

I was unaware these books were all novella length, and I was so excited when I saw how many of these books there were. I was so ready to get lost in a long series, so when I finished the first book in an hour I was pretty sad. It’s still an amazing book, I’m just sad it’ll be a much shorter ride than I was expecting.

Spoiler thoughts: I like Drew, but honestly I’m struggling to see that relationship working out just because he is human. This world is so dangerous, she needs a vampire love interest that would actually be able to protect her. So even though I’m not super happy with Noah, I feel like this story might end up moving towards him. Which I’m not mad about, I love a good bad guy gone soft story. I actually hope it goes that way, because Drew is funny and sweet but that way can only lead to pain, and he can’t protect her from anything.

Took me a month to finish this 94-page book; it was so boring. However, writing was descriptive and the main character isn’t the absolute worst.
Also, baby Drew is adorable. Noah was the only intriguing part of the entire book and he shows up at the end

Oh hi, I'm hooked.
I felt this was just going to be "okay" until Noah Forrest appeared and well, now I'm into it.

Who is going to be Charlie's love interest? Drew or Noah? I don't think Noah will harm Charlie. I feel like Noah will be my favorite character. I love when a character appears to be dangerous and mysterious at the same time. They appear to be bad-type on the outside, but inside they are good people. I am thinking that is who Noah is going to be. I really enjoyed this short novella and if I didn't participate in the Reading Rush, then I would be reading all of the other three novellas in this series.

CAWPILE Rating:
Character (8)- I think I am probably on side Noah rather than side Drew. Drew seems to be the kind type and would risk his life for Charlie, but he isn't the type I like. I personally like the bad boy trope more. I didn't think that I hated any of the characters yet. I like the main character, Charlie, which is better than calling her Charlotte because it's hard to pronounce for me. I am interested in the character Aya or Ava? I forgot her name...

Atmosphere (8)- This book has a great world building. I don't really have thything else to say...

Writing (8)- I couldn't tell that two people wrote this book. It feel like one person did. I really loved the writing style because it was really easy to go into the writing and never come out of the book.

Plot (7)- Didn't really have a big plot because it is really short. I liked the ending of the book really well.

Intrigue (8)- I need to read the next one in the series.

Logic (8)- There was nothing that made me confused.

Enjoyment (8.5)- I am really liking this book series. I want to know more about this world and the characters.

This was really quick, enjoyable read.

A Whisper in the Dark is about Charlie, a vampire princess who quickly becomes disgraced and is forced into a life of fear and brutality.

This was really short so there wasn't much of a plot but things kick off pretty quickly and it was a good time.

I really like Charlie! I love a good vampire mc and something I was a fan of is the fact that she's always been a kind person and treats all the humans around her with compassion. I like Drew and Nina as well and I'm very intrigued by Noah.

The writing was easy to get through and I basically finished this in one sitting. I also like the worldbuilding a lot and hope we continue to see more of it.

If you're in the mood for a really quick fantasy, and you have Kindle Unlimited, you can check this one out!

closer to a 3 than a 2 but it didn't grip me as much as I thought it would - I'm hoping the next part will peak my interest a bit more!

This was quite an intriguing first volume with an interesting premise. Definitely interested in reading the next volume!

One thing I will say though is that there was a lot of info-dumping. Which usually I don't mind too much, but a couple of the explanations I found so confusing. Even when I reread a couple of the passages five times, I still couldn't wrap my head around what it meant. And I'm so sure that there was a mistake in how the mother was described, because it just didn't make sense (if you've read this, I'm talking about the eyes). This of course could be a fault with me the reader just being a bit stupid, but in this case I think it was just written a little poorly.
