This was a very spicy read with a bada$$ MC and a remarkably emotionally mature love interest. Historical romances are normally not my thing, but I’ve read so many good ones lately, and this one is very close to the top. I loved that it was very heavy in references to history and medical practices for the times but also wasn’t overly educational, so my attention never felt like it was pulled in too many directions. Did I mention MC is a doctor who performs critical care to women even when they can’t afford it because their husbands won’t pay for it or prioritize their wives’ health? So freaking cool. This was also a dual perspective narrative, so for those that like to read from both characters’ perspectives, buckle up. There were also very important conversations in this book about colonialism, colorism and racism, elitism, and sexism that make this book truly powerful and transform it from a good read into a great read. And I cannot overstate the pairing of these two characters. Altogether, this book is genuinely so enjoyable and, well, hot. To my friends who are on the lookout for spicy reads, this one is for you. And if you don’t think you’d enjoy the love interest commenting about soaking his white sheets in MC’s sweat…this may not be your book, and that’s okay.
This book was incredible! The banter between Aurora and Apollo? Top-tier. The chemistry? Off the charts. A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke delivers a historical romance full of passion, intrigue, and a strong-willed heroine who refuses to be tamed.
Aurora is a physician running an underground women’s clinic—fiercely independent and unwilling to let society dictate her choices. Then there’s Apollo, a newly titled Duke trying to navigate his role while resisting the pull of Aurora. Their fiery push-and-pull dynamic made this such an engaging read, and I absolutely adored the found family aspect with Las Leonas.
The romance between Aurora and Apollo is equal parts sizzling and heartfelt—watching them challenge each other while falling deeply in love was everything. Add in the high stakes, a touch of danger, and this book had me hooked from start to finish.
One thing I love about Adriana Herrera’s books is how much care and research she puts into creating these rich, immersive stories. She brings history to life in such a compelling way, and Aurora and Apollo’s story was no exception.

This was truly everything that I want in a historical romance. Perfection, with so many amazingly cathartic moments. An absolute banger of a final book for the series.
