I think I would've liked this book a lot more if I never actually used a cellphone before and was only aware of them in theory.
In general Chick Lit isn't really my thing. I don't read much of the genre. And while I didn't hate this book, and can see why other people would like it, I found it infuriating too often to give this more than two stars.
It seems like Kinsella is only vaguely aware of cellphones. Like she knows someone who knows someone who saw a cellphone once in real life. And then they played a game of telephone to convey that information back to her.
I understand that in novels improbable things happen to move along the plot. I can overlook that. (i.e. losing your engagement ring through blatant stupidity, having your phone stolen at that exact moment, finding a phone in the trash). But the thing in this book that I couldn't overlook was the way cellphones were portrayed. Nothing made any sense at all. (Not going to your cellphone provider immediately (and still paying for a phone you no longer have), a company phone with secure information not being password protected, her being able to check the voicemail without the password, emails somehow being saved directly to a phone and not an account, a company paying for a personal phone of a non employee (I sense some tax issues there)). It was so stupid it made my head hurt. I could go on but I don't want to.

This was a fun read. There were times when I could not stop laughing.
There was just ONE thing that made me so so angry!
Poppy's Decisions: I get some of the irresponsible decisions, I get some of her not-well-studied actions. BUT,
The last few chapters almost made me break my phone; I was screaming; you stupid, idiotic girl. What are you doing!!!

to get back to her cheating, liar fiancé just because she thinks she cannot have Sam!! Uh uh! I couldn't understand that. Are you afraid of being single or what. The last few chapters almost made me break my phone; I was screaming; you stupid, idiotic girl. What are you doing!!!
Despite the obvious zaniness and cheesiness going on, I loved this book! It reminded me of a 90s romantic comedy. Definitely will be picking up more of Miss Kinsella's titles!

I love this book. I listened to it on audio book and felt like I was in the book with the characters. The writing, the reading, it was all wonderful. It was one of those books I wanted to find out the ending, but didn't want to ever end.

Plot
The book wasn't as good as I thought it could be. Half of the plot was kind of boring and those parts weighed down on me, but at other times I had fun reading it. The idea presented in the book was quite catching and development of this thread was good(though I have to admit that the storyline is a bit far-fetched - really what are the chances?) but other subplots I found wearisome. Another thing that ruined the book for me was the main heroine, She simply irritated me and I could bring myself to really like her. Towards the end the book got better and I found the ending enjoyable. Though the book had its moments the fact that main character annoyed me and many pages were filled with boring stuff made me rate it lower than I would like to.
Cute, fluffy brainless chick-lit. Just what I was in the mood for.
