This book is absolutely amazing. I loved it from the very first page and couldn't put it down. However I despise angst and I simply couldn't finish the last few chapters. Although it's not the book's fault, I won't read the next one because of it. It's definitely not for anxious people.

It was a slow burn, but sadly, we weren't rewarded. But there were cute moments throughout the book. Still, I loved the characters, setting and writing. Lara is badass af and didn't break character. ❤️

❗️Detailed Trigger Warnings❗️
Snakes
A LOT of aggressive man-eating snakes. If you hate snakes this is not a book for you.

Spiders
Two quick mentions. Can be skipped.

Sharks
Descriptions of them attacking and eating people

Drugging
Only to make people fall asleep so they can discover/hide secrets

Child abuse
Punished during training. Historical, off-page

Violence
Raids, war, fighting, blood, everything

Self-harm
Sexism
Few comments here and there. It was OK. Many many comments about her boobs.

Jealousy OW
He makes her jealous on purpose by flirting with his former lover. He is loyal to Lara however and there is no cheating.

Alcohol
They drink all the time but there's no drunk asshole attitude.

ANGST
In the second half of the book

Happy ending?
No

Really neat world building and I loved the main leads (Aren and Lara) so much! Lots of fun snark too.

Gorgeous. Devastating. Adventure around every turn. Danielle L. Jensen's The Bridge Kingdom deserves every ounce of praise one can muster.
I have wanted to read this series for a long time, and I am so glad that it lived up to the hype -- because I absolutely loved it!
Lara is clever, determined, tough as nails, and a force of nature to be reckoned with.
Aren is loyal, honorable, and a fierce protector of his people with an adventurer's heart.
These two, bound together by a political marriage that is part of a treaty between their parent's warring nations, literally wrecked my heart. Reading this book was like running a feelings marathon. Sensory overload in the best of ways.
