Not my typical genre, but a pretty good read.

This author is really courting the reader with the combination of fascinating details and fast paced action. Come to think of it, I'm not sure many of the characters got much to eat or slept during the two day span of the story.
Mr. Rollins is so sure you will want to keep reading after the last page that he even included some references at the end on where to research the subjects he incorporated into his book. Any author that takes this much care into his fans deserves my respect.

Not my normal genre choice, but so so glad I read it. The application of math and science is just enough to craft a cool story and inspire inquiry afterward.

Kad uzmem Rollinsa, točno znam što želim čitati -pustolovnu akcijsku napeticu s mrvicom fantastičnog. I nikad me ne razočara.

This was such a good book, as usual. I love James Rollins writing and anything by him is worth reading. This one was even better than usual. The scientific/historical mystery in it was probably one of my favorites thus far. I do not want to give anything away, because it would ruin the experience. However, if you are looking for an amazing mystery and action book this is the one.

My kind of guilty pleasure reading. This went by fast and held my attention to the end. Sure, it was unrealistic and silly at times, but that's part of the fun of books like this, right? I had a few complaints, but overall, I enjoyed it.

Forgetting the pseudo-science, this was a fun and enjoyable story that has some nicely defined acts and changes in genre. It starts of as a monster thriller, then switches to straight-up action thriller, then one to the next thing. Rather than jarring, these switches were nicely done as I was kept on my toes having settled down to read what I'd presumed to be one before it turns into something else. The dark history of the main characters was a little unnecessary but gave them something to talk about that was not plot related. All-in-all a lot of fun, if a bit silly.

I generally love James Rollins, but I simply could not get interested in this book. There was nothing specifically wrong with it, and when I was reading it, I was entertained. But I was never excited to read it and didn't devour it as I had hoped I would. I was looking for a summer vacation book that I couldn't put down, but I unfortunately had no problem doing that. Not a bad book, but nothing special either.
