There was so much character development in even just the beginning. You start to know the characters and get such a deep appreciation for them. There are so many little tidbits inserted by Roberts that seem innocuous, but looking back you can see the Easter Eggs.

For a fantasy, the world building aspect was disappointing. Also the romance went from 0 to 100, at one point their training for a few days with limited feels and then they're doing it. The build up to their relationships sucked. But I'll still be reading book 2.
