I loved these characters (and their characters) so much. I loved the found family dynamic that felt so true to dnd, I loved the coming of age and coming into themselves journey that Hollis went on, and I just loved this story. It was so well done, especially the way that once Hollis got more into the game, it changed narration so you felt encompassed by it too, to make you feel like you were /really/ in it.

The DND/real-life aspect was also really well balanced. I don't feel like I got too much or too little of one or the other, and honestly it could've been a little bit longer, I would've loved to see more from these characters and see what's in store for them, but even then it ended in the perfect place. I just read it so fast, I wish I could've spent more time with them.

This story felt so close to my heart, and I feel so inspired now to make beautiful art and play DND, and I hope it does the same for anyone else who reads it.

The stunt between Hollis and Aini in the games-a-lot for maxx the bard turned me all the way off. I was already on thin ice with this book bc I realized Gloria was not the romantic interest and that disappointed me

This was a super cute YA novel. If you love D&D and found family, pick this baby up.

“You just have to find your people.” Hollis thought she'd already found her people, until she become part of her S&S group and really started to open up and know herself for the first time. Her group, full of kind, nerdy girls who have each other's backs, celebrated her and helped her learn to celebrate herself. I'm not generally into role playing games, but I liked the game that this group created. It was very them, and I really liked every member of the group. Especially Hollis. How great is it to have a fat girl dealing with anxiety as the main character?

I had the amazing opportunity to read this early and oh my gosh. I didn’t want to put it down!! I saw so much of myself in Hollis. This book is 100% for the nerdy gays and I just wanted it to keep going. I can’t wait for everyone to be able to get their hands on it!!

Super cute YA book about Hollis finding herself through S&S (the book’s version of D&D)
