A disgraced paladin, a forger, an assassin and a sheltered priest go on a suicide mission.

Hilarity, personal growth, and hijinks ensue.

This is half the story, you need book 2 for the rest of it. It should be one book.

I adjusted to 4 stars because the writing isn't as tight as, say, Kingfisher's Paladin series, and I dont want you to think this is the best thing she's written. I really enjoy these books, and happily recommend them, but there are better ones in her library.

Exactly what I've come to expect from the World of the White Rat. Excellent, often broken characters and a fun adventure... that's quite a bit darker than the tone of the book would suggest.

I don’t understand why this book is split into two, it feels like milking one story for two books.
And the cliffhanger ending doesn’t work here considering the whole premise of the book. I read the afterword of the book by the author so it seems ill planned on her part but perhaps the book being split was an attempt to salvage a compromised plot, since the character development was based off the author’s play of video games. Normally books in series feel complete on their own and this just feels like half a book. So it was a tad disappointing.
