A rather intriguing story about a mysterious boy covered with feathers and the walled city surrounded by the chaotic maze. There is a brief touch on the idea of "Beauty and the Beast" with the boy, Poe, meeting and befriending the city girl, Bianca, by chance. Overall, I enjoyed Poe's story, and I wonder where the author will choose to go from here judging by the up-in-the-air ending.

Absolutely FABULOUS.

Gorgeous, dynamic, and deeply emotive artwork. Excellently relateable characters with engaging personalities. Fantastic use of the beauty and the beast concept as a vessel in which to cache a new story of ambiguous morality and the fractured reality of human nature.

Adorable and gut-wrenching in the same moment.

And I LOVED the commentary dynamic of the off-screen characters whose fates will be determined by the outcome of Poe's investigation into his own history. Moral grayness to a T, with the good guy and bad guy dynamic flipped around and turned inside out so thoroughly it doesn't even matter what 'good' and 'evil' traditionally mean when attempting to interpret their roles and potential.

(Also, the friendship dynamic between Poe and Bianca totally reminded me of Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown, which has no real relevance, but it is a distinct part of why I found this graphic novel so particularly engaging.)

LOVED IT.
And am eagerly, anxiously waiting for the next installment!

The story had its moments, but I never truly got into it and I wasn't a big fan of the art style.
