I loved this! If you’re a fan of The Office, this is for you (but if you’ve never watched the show, I don’t think there’s much in here you’d enjoy, unless you have an interest in behind-the-scenes stuff in general).

It covered things from female friendships and motherhood to the realities of working on a television show, I really enjoyed it. I also listen to the podcast and a lot of what is in here is what is shared in the podcast as well, but I think they make good companions and it’s still worth reading for the snippets they haven’t shared and the photos. It’s told in a similar way the podcast is structured, as well, which is neat.

It’s also just a nice comfort read in a similar way that the TV show was/is for me. Pam was my personal favourite character from The Office and it’s really cool that the actress who played her now goes into so much detail about Pam!

As a former hardcore fan of The Office, it was a nice burst of nostalgia to listen to Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey reflect on their time on the show and everything about the experience - and I deeply respect their commitment to milking it for all its worth. In many ways, it is much like every book where an actor talks about their fame-making role; I don't think it's a necessary read or particularly special in that regard. I did think the layer of filtering through their friendship was a unique touch that worked well for them, though.

Also, it's always a little annoying to listen to successful cis women discuss their relationships with other successful cis women in the most shallow vaguely-feminist terms ever. Obviously it's preferable to women bashing each other, but the idea that women support each other and stick together on the basis of just being women is so laughably untrue, and it feels fake and plasticky every time I hear it. Fischer and Kinsey made comments in this vein a lot, but they're by no means the only famous female authors to do this shtick.

Great for fans of The Office. Only downside is if you've listened to Office Ladies a lot of the content and stories shared on the podcast take up the majority of the book. Also I recommend the audiobook more because of the extras from other cast members.
