I loved this! If you’re a fan of The Office, this is for you (but if you’ve never watched the show, I don’t think there’s much in here you’d enjoy, unless you have an interest in behind-the-scenes stuff in general).

It covered things from female friendships and motherhood to the realities of working on a television show, I really enjoyed it. I also listen to the podcast and a lot of what is in here is what is shared in the podcast as well, but I think they make good companions and it’s still worth reading for the snippets they haven’t shared and the photos. It’s told in a similar way the podcast is structured, as well, which is neat.

It’s also just a nice comfort read in a similar way that the TV show was/is for me. Pam was my personal favourite character from The Office and it’s really cool that the actress who played her now goes into so much detail about Pam!

As a former hardcore fan of The Office, it was a nice burst of nostalgia to listen to Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey reflect on their time on the show and everything about the experience - and I deeply respect their commitment to milking it for all its worth. In many ways, it is much like every book where an actor talks about their fame-making role; I don't think it's a necessary read or particularly special in that regard. I did think the layer of filtering through their friendship was a unique touch that worked well for them, though.

Also, it's always a little annoying to listen to successful cis women discuss their relationships with other successful cis women in the most shallow vaguely-feminist terms ever. Obviously it's preferable to women bashing each other, but the idea that women support each other and stick together on the basis of just being women is so laughably untrue, and it feels fake and plasticky every time I hear it. Fischer and Kinsey made comments in this vein a lot, but they're by no means the only famous female authors to do this shtick.

As a quintessential millennial, I am a huge fan of The Office. I stumbled across this audiobook available on Libby and immediately put it on hold and not so patiently waited for it to become available.
"The Office BFFs" is a witty, nostalgic, and absolutely hysterical behind the scenes look at the television show The Office, and more importantly two of the stars, Angela's and Jenna's, friendship. If you have heard their podcast, there is some overlap in the stories, but there is also some fun new anecdotes for you to enjoy in this book.
One of my favorite features, if you will, of this book is that the audiobook is narrated by Angela and Jenna. These two had me literally laughing out loud as I listened, and when I was not laughing, I still had the biggest smile on my face. There are also a few surprise appearances from other Office actors during the audiobook. If you have the opportunity to listen to this as an audiobook, I highly recommend picking this up!
I did not know a lot about the behind-the-scenes elements of The Office. For example, originally, the show only signed four of the actors to be full-time, on salary actors. The rest of the cast were reoccurring background characters. They also chose to shoot the show in a unique way, to make it feel more like a real documentary about real people working in an office. The cast went to stores like Staples to pick out real items to make their desks their own.
On the show, Jenna's and Angela's characters, Pam and Angela, have a tense friendship. I would argue in the beginning it is not even a friendship. So, to hear how much these gals love each other and were rooting for one another behind the scenes made me appreciate their acting so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing how they became best friends on set and then they remained friends and fostered their relationship after the show ended. I think it is truly beautiful that these two people met on a job and ended up becoming friend soul mates. There are a lot of discussions about becoming mothers and starting families while still trying to work a very demanding job. I particularly enjoyed these sections and I thought they had a lot of great advice about trying to balance "it all".
I highly, highly recommend this book, and I hope to hear more from this dynamic duo in the future.

I enjoyed the office when it came out, even praised it, but I won't say I'm a devoted fan. I haven't even rewatched it! So, when I picked this book (and audiobook) up, I was definitely not expecting to love it nearly as much as I did. I mean, Jenna and Angela just have so much chemistry and you can feel it in the writing, but not just that, they do so much fun and interesting things in the audiobook that just blew my mind. It felt as if I were actually listening to their podcast! So, I will definitely recommend this book but will say that if their is a definitive way to read this book, the audiobook is the winner.

Easy five stars.

I listened to the audiobook because I was more interested in the guest audio (songs by Creed Bratton and Ed Helms, intro by Rainn Wilson, interview with Jennifer Garner [?] and more) than in cast photos.
I already listen to the Office Ladies podcast so I wouldn’t say this book contains more information than the podcast (it would be impossible) but it does include a lot more birds-eye-view analysis of the series than the podcast does; the latter drills down into specific episodes. Angela and Jenna’s close friendship is picked apart carefully and the Big Pregs, Little Pregs, Fake Pregs chapter was interesting and moving.
I’d say worth reading for any Office fan, of course.
