Mr. Malin and the Night by William Pauley III is story of revenge and passion, liars and cheats, and most importantly, sex and bullet holes. The Devil is having a good time with these characters, particularly with his favorite puppet, Vincent Malin, a man whom he plays with both psychologically before his death as he mourns his murdered bride, Amy, and then physically afterwards as he makes him relive the destruction of the woman he loves, Evey.

In a story of obsession, Pauley’s words show what happens when love turns vile: paranoia, anger, deception. He shows readers what love makes people do, how sorry makes people act. But most importantly, he shows readers that sometimes when your heart stops beating from the pain, the only action left is to step into another body, another being, another mindset, and inflict that pain that plagues you on someone else.

After all, Hell is nothing more and nothing less than a broken heart.
And when the love is gone, all that’s left to do...is scream.
