This is a great novella! The writing is excellent and it feels so full even though it is so short. Even though Amelia isn't really the kind of character that I like, she feels so well written and is really easy to connect to.

Honestly this is probably one of Moreno-Garcia's more mature works. When she sets a novel she often explains a lot of the backstory of ths protagonist and their hang ups but here she does an EXCELLENT job with "show don't tell". I also tend to like her grittier stuff like Certain Dark Things or Mexican Gothic, and I think this falls under that as well. This is such a good book, about taking your chances so if you get them. The cover is misleading tho, this book is very different from what I thought it would be 😂
