I think the idea behind this book is fantastic. Lots of great questions about what it means to be sentient, and whether or not that should even matter. I've wondered that myself, about people. With our currently heightened interest in AI, the topic of sentience is incredibly relevant. The execution of the story though felt very repetitive to me, reminiscent of ground-hog day with some psychedelics thrown in. The big-bad of this story is quite similar to a character from the previous book, and that also contributed to the repetitiveness. Overall, the fairytale atmosphere made this book into the odd stepchild of the series. I did like it, but stylistically it doesn't quite fit in.

A great story that reminded me of a combination of the best episodes of Star Trek, Iain Banks Culture, and the works of Greg Egan.

Due to the plot this book gets slightly repetitive, but it's still awesome. What a series.
