He likes big books and he did tell a lie...Ava (h) is on a book signing tour and has been receiving threats from a stalker. Holden (H) has been hired as her security while she's visiting Sycamore Mountain and he couldn’t be happier since he's secretly been crushing on her since he saw her picture on one of her books a few years earlier. Ava and Holden head up to his mountain home and fates, or is it Holden, conspire to get her to stay a while. Hot and steamy action in this quickie read!

This was a great forced proximity romance. I have been reading Sadie King’s books for a while now and I usually like the sweetness of them but this time she threw in a bit of darkness and I loved it. Holden was a true obsessive alpha and maybe he went a bit too far but luckily it got him Ava. The two had great chemistry and I so enjoyed reading their story.

This was fine for a romantic novella. This is an insta-love story, so don’t expect any deep or meaningful plot/relationship. It’s mostly just supposed to be a sweet and quick read. Also, just an FYI that Ava is a virgin at nearly 30, and she’s extremely naive and shy in the bedroom, so if you don’t like blushing virgins then you probably won’t like Ava.

That being said, I loved the premise of the story and the fact that Ava was a crime author rather than a romance writer (it feels so cliche).

What I didn’t care for was the resolution. I don’t mind Holden but he is pretty stalker-ish, which is ironic considering Ava is hiding from one. Given the context, Holden should have done more to redeem himself, or just not be so stalker-y in the first place.

Overall, it’s a decent read if you want a quick taste of romance. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am reviewing it voluntarily.

Ava (FMC): virgin, close to 30, introverted and shy, crime author
Holden: protective, woodworker, lives in remote cabin in North Carolina, enjoys reading

Things to note: forced proximity, bodyguard, skinny dipping, stalker, mention of dismemberment,

Ava, the female lead, has been receiving death threats. Holden, the male lead, has volunteered to be her security in light of this because he’s been a long term fan and is looking forward to spending time with her…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a cute sexy summer read. I enjoyed seeing Ava expand her horizons and try new things. I appreciated that she took physical time away from Holden to process details he had initially omitted. An engaging, cute and sexy read.

The Curvy Author & Her Mountain Man

This was a fun, short read. I liked 'His Big Book Stack' because the author was able capture my imagination with describing Ava, Holden & the surrounding area in detail. Ava is a visiting author & Holden is a mountain man who volunteered to be her security due to death threats received. Their relationship develops quick & fast with lots of steamy moments but will that lead to a HEA if Ava ever discovers what Holden has done to protect her.
I can't wait to read more from this author.

Ava & Holden

Author in danger, saved by the local recluse? Who just happens to also love her books & inspires the final book in a series? Yup. Enjoyed this installment of the Man of the Month sycamore mountain novella series.
