this book was really good! i love marissa meyer as always. however i could tell it was one of her earlier works. i was able to guess the spoiler
that cinder is princess selene
literally the first page it was mentioned. but it was so well written, i love kai and cinder, and it ended on a cliffhanger so i guess i’ll have to read the next one!!

I still very much enjoyed this series, even the second time around. This reread showed me that even if I knew the story I had forgotten when certain plot points happened or even key events, especially in this particular book.

This is a simple YA Sci-Fi read and knew that going in. Even if the plot or the world building is on the more simple side, I didn't mind it as this is an introduction to the series and it does explain what you need to know well without confusing you with too much at once. I know for a fact that the lore and world building continues with each book so it is not something that I am overly worried about in this book.
The characters are still as enjoyable this time around as they were the first time. Cinder's relationships between different characters and even with herself lead to some of my favourite scenes in this book, and has me on the edge of chair. This has just left me excited for the rest of the characters to meet up and all their interactions to come.

I loved finishing the month with this book. This has been a series that I've kept telling myself that I need to reread and now I have finally gotten around to it. I recommend this book and series to anyone who wants something a little different from their fairy tale retellings. This book is not a hard start to a new series or world, but it does introduce the readers to more as the series progresses so this is not all of it.

this is definitely out of my comfort zone, but i really enjoyed it! It was challenging to connect to any of the characters (seeing as it’s based in the future) but i was quickly transported into New Beijing with the characters.

OK so I have to first say that, thanks to Asian reviewers writing on the world-building of Cinder (reviews like this! https://noveltoybox.wordpress.com/2013/02/24/review-cinder-lunar-chronicles-1-by-marissa-meyer-2012/) it's messy and pretty offensively not very accurate esp because Meyer kind of just smushed lots of cultures together. also Levana straight up just being the western beauty standard in her super beautiful form?? no thanks. its not good or okay, obviously. I love and hold a special place in my heart for the characters, I just wish that the world they inhabited was a bit better thought out, instead of an aesthetic coating.
