DID NOT FINISH

Seems like I have picked the absolute worst book as my introduction to TJ Klune.
Don't usually do that but I chose to dnf it, reading unfortunately felt like a chore with this one.
The book drags on, repeating same thing over and over again and I understand that the author aimed at making Benji's grief more palpable to the reader, it just didn't come through and made the book unbearable. While I couldn't connect to those characters at all, the plot twist completely lost me.

It’s very sad and I’m still grieving my best friend’s death. I’ll come back to it when I’m in a better headspace.
sad

😮‍💨 woah this was heavy. A bit too much for me to be honest. But I needed a book with ‘river’ in the title and thought this would be perfect. My favorite part was the writing. TJ Klune’s prose are breathtaking and he is amazing at making me cry about characters that I don’t even care that much about! 😅

It didn't click with me as his other books did. Still a wonderful read!

Such an emotional and wonderfully written story full of bright characters and relationships beyond the MCs. Full of love of every kind.
