I read it but I don’t remember when so it’ll be a 2019 book. Actually I don’t remember either if it was good one so 3 stars

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Thank you to Bookouture for letting me take part in this tour. I read my frat book by Keris a few months ago and enjoyed it so when I saw this one on Netgalley I had to request it! When Kim mentioned the tour I knew I had to be on it.

The book follows Bea as she literally meets the man of her dreams. I liked Bea but I thought she was a little bit naive a times. Some of the time I just wanted to give her a little shake but I don't think I was alone there as her flatmate Freya pretty much says the same thing.  On the subject of Freya, I really loved her! I think she was my favourite character in this book.

I have to say that I wasn't sure about Dan from the start. I mean he seems like a nice guy but it all seemed a bit forced.

There was some real laugh out loud moments for me. I really loved all the romcom mentions. Many of which I haven't seen but will be making sure I track them down.

The ending is predictable and easily guessed but it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the book. I think it was one of those scenarios where everyone can see it but the people its about, which is exactly how it happened with me and my boyfriend. If you love a good romcom then you will really enjoy this one.

I received an arc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Bea has had the same dream involving the man of her dreams for as long as she can remember. Everything in Bea's life hinges on this dream. On a chance day she believes she has finally met him, but is it really him...if I go on, I will give the story away and that would be no fun.

This book is super cute and I loved the author's love of classic rom-com's and pop culture, it came through multiple times amongst the characters dialogue. She created likeable characters that flowed well within the story. I felt like they would be really fun friends; I want to be their roommate too!

Quick and fun read if you are looking for something lighthearted. I enjoyed reading it.

This was a nice easy read! Story was predictable but the characters were great & there were some good laugh out loud moments.

A sweet story but slow. I found there to be no real wow factor. Wasn’t “laugh out loud funny” like it said it was on the cover.

Thanks to Bookouture for the ARC via NetGalley!

This is my first book by Keris Stainton. It was a fun read. The reason I'm giving it only 3 stars is because some parts felt a little too predictable. But I enjoyed it anyway, it's definitely not a bad book. Bea is such a great character. She's so smart and funny. It was nice knowing her.

Cute. I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for romantic comedy or what, but this was kind of boring. Bea's dream is ridiculous. The friendships were nice, the love interests were nice, but I hated every moment of Bea with the wrong boy and the wrong decisions.

Ok. So if you're looking for a lighthearted read, with a romantic twist, I can think of several other books with a stronger and better developed plot and characters. There was nothing inherently wrong with "It Had to be You" - except that everything took too long to develop AND then nothing really happened.

If you read the blurb on the back of the book, you know that Bea thinks she's met her dream guy (he literally has been in her recurring dream) in her local park and that they are meant to be. But things aren't all that they seem, and he turns out to not be the right guy ... does she stay with him just because he was in her dream???

The thing is ... Bea meets him (Dan) and he isn't horrible, or off-putting. He doesn't treat her poorly or abuse her. They simply aren't a match. No sexual chemistry... and it takes her forever to admit to it ... meanwhile the plot becomes more about her roommates, her step-father and mother's relationship and the dream.

It's a lot of pages for not very much to happen - and while it didn't have me cringing, it certainly didn't keep me turning the pages with a mad urge to find out what Bea decides to do.

I was hoping for more of a [b:Big Sexy Love|34835025|Big Sexy Love|Kirsty Greenwood|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1513106901s/34835025.jpg|56063978] or [b:Who’s That Girl?|26115279|Who’s That Girl?|Mhairi McFarlane|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1467240853s/26115279.jpg|46062170] - both of which made me laugh and get into the whole romantic comedy mood, but this one just fell flat.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This book wasn’t really my jam. I certainly didn’t think it was “an absolutely laugh out loud romance novel”.
I always find it hard to get through books that start off with the guy/girl you know they don’t end up with and this one had us starting before she even met the wrong guy… so I knew it was going to be a slog for me. You have to go through all the meeting and first dates etc when you know it’s not going to work out.

I did like the side characters and Henry as a love interest but the whole dream thing and dream guy just didn’t do it for me personally.

Single POV, no spice, 16+
