I’ve never had a child, and this absolutely broke me.
Pro tip: You can read this short story in less than one hour (it’s 39 pages) and for free on Amazon Prime.

Well written short story about a woman who is about to have a baby and her reflections about her relationships, friendships and family. Ended very abruptly however which made me feel I had missed something.

An incredible writing style that makes you feel so in the moment with Zikora during every step.

*Book Review on book blog: https://africanbookaddict.com/2020/11/24/zikora-by-chimamanda-adichie-transphobia-and-more/
I liked this story, even though Zikora and Kwame's demise had me feeling depressed.
This story is essentially about womanhood - our loves, our bodies, our minds, our longings, our hurts, our strengths and our weaknesses. Chimamanda isn't even the best short story teller - I didn't really enjoy her collection 'The Thing Around Her Neck' because the endings of the stories ended way too rudely and abruptly haha. She excels as a full-fledged novelist and I hope this Zikora story is part of a forthcoming NOVEL! *fingers crossed*.
I want more.
