My book club tricked me into reading this book. It was so-so.

I liked the storyline and the writing was good but I feel this shouldn’t have been a short story. It felt unfinished, there were so many unanswered questions. Shame shame! 🤷‍♀️

I really wish this was longer, especially after that rather abrupt ending

Sensitive and reflective study on generational relationships and thr experience of childbirth.
The narration made it really personal.

"Some kindnesses you do not ever forget. You carry them to your grave, held warmly somewhere, brought up and savored from time to time."

'What was "normal" ? That Nature traded in unnecessary pain?'

"How you imagine something will always be is always worse than how it actually ends."

A short but honest read, I was able to feel and understand all that the character went through despite being from a completely different background and having never experienced any of the things she went through. Excellent writing
