Hands down the best rom-com I've read so far in my 14 (quick-to-be 15) years of living.

Honestly, this book was more than a rom-com, it was also so educational and eye-opening. Before this book, I would've never known that harmful stereotypes/stigmas surrounding Jewish people existed (Hell, I didn't even know there was a word (anti-semitism) for it). Now I do, and I feel so much more educated. One may say that a rom-com isn't the best source of education but I disagree. The information doesn't have to come from an educational source for it to be considered valued or real . It was fucking real, and I could feel that the author really put her own life experiences in this book. That's why I really like 'Today Tonight Tomorrow", it was so educational.

Furthermore, digressing a tad. I would argue that this book should also be under the "coming-of-age" genre. The book explores the fear of growing up wonderfully albeit not being the book's main point. Throughout the book, we get to see both Neil and Rowan explore and grow . Rowan takes risks and tells her family and friends about her writing a romance novel, Neil ultimately decides to not visit his father and not let his father rule his life anymore. In conclusion, I am a whore for good character development and getting to see our beloved characters grow into better human beings.

On the topic of coming-of-age, I also really enjoyed the exploration of priorities, ie., how Rowan didn't realise she was being a bad friend and prioritising her obsession with beating Neil over her friends, Kirby and Mara. I think it's such a good moral to teach kids when they're young--how to balance a social life, academics, and health.

Back to the topic of TTT being very educational, I also really admired the exploration of low-class. Neil in TTT comes from the lower parts of the middle class and struggles with this. He openly admits (to Rowan) that he feels shame and hates that people pity him. When Rowan openly admitted she didn't know what else to do BUT pity him; I felt that. We, humans, are always so quick to pity and sympathise and never think about how dehumanizing it could possibly feel for the receiving person's end. I also really liked how this influenced Neil’s character , because of his family’s social status, he dresses up in suits (that he tailors to fit himself btw) and I think itms just really cool that the characters are so influenced by their circumstances—makes it feel realistic. In other words, I just really enjoyed reading about this exploration of social status and how it affects a person (fictional or not). That's why I just found this book so educational and so different compared to other rom-coms I've read.

Moving on to the characterization: I loved it. Like, LOVED. Starting off with Neil, he was such a dork and so incredibly soft-hearted, how could I NOT like him? I also just really loved the star-war references, he's such a geek and I love that. Onto Rowan, I overall really enjoyed her character, albeit she could be a little annoying and frustrating at times, I really resonated with her too (as a fellow "I don't want to grow up" teenager myself) and could really understand where she was coming from. Thus, you could imagine how proud I was when Rowan started to take more risks and be more present rather than romanticising everything.

I think I'm just super biased because all of the scenes in this book were SO CUTE. (Future me, check Sora to reread them if you want). Like, hello?! The library-in-the-dark scene, the museum scene (wink wink), Neil's house scene, Neil-meeting-Rowan's-parents-and-fanboying scene, Neil-getting-to-see-Rowan's-room scene (my favourite because...yk), hell, even the valedictorian announcement scene. BASICALLY, every scene was my favourite scene. Their romance was sweet, pure, and ground-breaking (their words, not mine) and was just so perfect .

Unfortunately, I was not blessed with the powerful gift of articulating my emotions properly with my vocabulary and thus, you must read it for yourselves to understand where I am coming from.

- typical ya romcom nice, light read
- academic rivals to lovers with ml already in love with fl
- made me laugh that the ml being the same height as the fl was mentioned so many times they're both 5'5"
- kinda hard to read books that have like a 24 hours time constraint because the romantic development just seems rushed?

This is perfect if you’re looking for:

✔️ Academic Rivals
✔️ Enemies-to-Lovers
✔️ Quick Read
✔️ YA

I’m writing this review weeks after I read the book and quite frankly I’ve forgotten most details already. However, I remember loving every second I spent reading this book!

So I've had this on my shelves for years and wasn't super excited to read it. Finally got around to reading it and loved it so much more than I thought I would. There were some cheesy and or annoying moments that bother me in YA in general but they weren't too bad and overall I was invested and excited to see how things go. I loved the Jewish representation and the value that added to the story and I also felt like the characters chemistry was there and seeing that blossom was a good time.
