Lots of convoluted family relationships with infidelity through generations but well written and I good story. I liked Sallie for her strength and independence as a woman during that time period.

Sallie is the daughter of the most powerful man in town. He may be powerful but man what a jerk! Sallie wanted nothing more than to be reunited with her father, Duke. After many years apart they are finally together only for tragedy to strike again and again. As much as everyone else in this book sucked, Sallie is a real rockstar. Always doing what’s right and not letting people walk all over her. This was the first read for my new book club! Looking forward to getting other takes and compare notes!
