Summer fluff read. It was a good break from heavier stuff. Enjoyable enough because of the character we know and love, but the writing is truly awful
As if I didn't already love Hano Solo... getting to know his back-story and hear his thought-process just makes it all the more difficult to deal with the fact that he's not a real person.
A little stunted in flow, but then again I never did like Crispin's writing style. Still a decent read, but not cerebral in the least. Also, some contradictions with the later books' plots, although bringing back a few of the lesser known storylines is a nice touch.

I read all the Star Wars books I could get my hands on at the library when I was in middle school and high school (so roughly 1994-2001). I wanted to go back and re-read some of them. I'm hoping I will enjoy books 2 and 3 in this trilogy more than this first one. It was just okay + nostalgia factor.
Although the story is different (...mostly), this is basically the book version of the new Solo movie. Great art it's not, but if you want a twisty origin story that beats you over the head with your favorite character's most recognizable mannerisms and attempts to explain every canon detail you never thought to ask, then this is for you.
This was cute! It wasn’t technically great writing, but it really didn’t need to be. Crispin (RIP) took a well-loved character and an established universe and told us a wonderful, entertaining story that included a cult, addiction to vibrational mating calls, a history of Han’s childhood raised by a galactic scammer (non-canon but who cares?), a girl of course, and some good ol’ blaster action. I look forward to reading The Hutt Gambit!

I love Han Solo and I love getting more of his backstory before the movie (even if it's all being re-written....). While the writing in Paradise Snare is definitely not top-tier literature, it's fun to read and even more fun to go through with a pen and circle all the "Star Wars" references. Excited to continue the trilogy.
Mostly for nostalgia purposes, however...I did enjoy this book.
The writing was a bit clunky but characterizations were thoughtful and well-done. And who doesn't want to know more about Han Solo's early life?
