Such a wonderfully written book. This is a book for people who love video games but it’s written so accessibly I think even someone who doesn’t like video games would absolutely enjoy it. I wasn’t expecting this book to take me through so many emotions and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I’m a huge fan of the way the author time jumps - it gives us little nuggets of the future or the past without being confusing and always leads us cleanly back into the plot.

Glorious in every way
except that wierd abortion plot twist

Writing impeccable and diverse, broke my heart and rebuilt it, made me feel things I could never feel while still being safe. Thank you for that amazing time. Try not to read it in one sitting, the characters need to grow at their own pace

Slow burn tearjerker with complex characters. Sam and Sadie had some super unlikable moments, but they were written so well that I always found myself empathizing with them and rooting for them.

This book took me forever to get through. Most of the time I was bored or annoyed with the characters. There is a lot of violence and abuse that doesn’t seem to have a true purpose. The book felt like it was trying to be progressive given that it takes place in the early 1990s, but then had one of the main female characters in love and obsessed with a creepy, older, abusive, pos man. Not for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

After finishing this book, it made me tell my friends how much I love them.
Feeling: existential and cyclical.
