This book was good until it wasn't.  The ending fell flat for me. I was disappointed in the lack of details towards the end of the book especially since each scene was explained in so much detail in the first 75% of the book.

The best thing about this book is the cover art.

In this third enstallment of The Winter Santiaga Series, Winter is back from the dead, literally, and she’s ready to build an empire at the expense of everyone. If you thought Winter was going to have a come to Jesus moment after her near death experience, think again!

I can’t stand Winter Santiaga. I don’t need to like the MC of a book, as long as the story is good and writing is even better. The writing is a terrible mess of 90s AAVE but obviously recently written. And because of that, Winter comes across as rude, violent and narcisistic. Unfortunately, there was zero attempt at any kind of character growth.

The luxury brand name dropping didn’t move the story along. Her relationship with F.K.R felt like a last minute addition. And the whole relationship with Pretty, was distasteful. Why are writing about supporting domestic violence, when it doesn’t have any bearing on the plot?

So many potential storylines that could have been explored, like her relationship with her estranged brother as an example?? What a wasted opportunity. Instead, Winter runs around abusing everyone.

Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC copy of Love After Midnight by Sister Souljah, while this book wasn't for me, it might be for those who enjoyed the TV series Empire.
