I understand this is a children/YA book and I am very much and adult, but I believe the best children's fantasy or even fiction in general is fully enjoyable for adults (Ursula K Le Guin, Terry Pratchett for example) - this book is not that. It's really mannered in terms of writing so the characters aren't even dislikeable they're just hollow. Great Uncle Merry is a great character, but literally everyone else in it is... Eh. I didn't connect it any of it. Plot is really lacking, everything feels repetitive.

Another sleepy time book. I shouldn’t have waited so long to read this. Now it just came across as for children. Which I mean it is, but anyway.

Just ok. Not really my thing and clearly meant for younger readers.

I don't recall enjoying this nearly as much the first time (which, although awhile ago, was definitely as an adult). At that time, I got the order wrong and started with The Dark is Rising, so backing up was a little jarring. This time, though, I had a great time. The pacing's perfect and I really appreciated how the action divides among the children: sometimes all three, sometimes a pair, sometimes one of them. I suspect the US edition is edited ("flashlight").
