Kearsley is such a talented writer and all of her books in this series are so thoroughly researched and historically similar. She really knows her stuff. You may need to read up on the history of this time period to fully understand the gravity of what’s happening but it is not required to read this series.
Also, what about that twist? I literally didn’t see it coming at all.

Did not like the plot twist ending, was not believable. Story was at times overly complicated.

Definitely my least favourite of this series - I strongly preferred the much longer gap between the two storylines in each of the first two books. This just felt like a standard historical novel, which isn't really my thing. I would have rated it a little higher until I got to the last couple of chapters, where the twist ending annoyed me.
