The pace is a little slow and I was not in the mood for this type of novel.

A charming, cozy mystery, if a little bit rambling.

Red Power Murders is the second of Thomas King's mystery series featuring smart ass, seen it all Cherokee detective Thumps Dreadfulwater, who I suspect might be an alter ego for King himself. It is as smart, funny and fun as the first, with enough biting social commentary and depth to the lead character to lift it above typical mystery fare. The Dreadfulwater books (five to date) may not be King's most important work, but they are thumping good reads (sorry, couldn't resist)

I like that it ended on a bit of a downer, but Dakota felt flat as a character and lacked agency.
