Dit boek probeerde veel te veel tegelijk te doen, waardoor niets echt goed is gelukt. 300 jaar geschiedenis, en in de laatste hoofdstukken ook nog speculatieve fictie en science fiction... 'show don't tell' is de schrijver ook onbekend, alles werd in detail omschreven maar dan niet de details die me interesseren. Hele berekeningen over zwaarte van papier en omvang van een ballen; wat moet ik daarmee? De verhalen waren ook lastig te volgen, en de personages en hun karakters kregen te weinig aandacht. Behalve dan een hele lijst waar alle karaktertrekken werden opgesomd....

Then as generations the follow, each daughter inherits the memories of the women who came before her. Heloise’s story, and those of her ancestors are therefore told through memories. Both speculative and whimsical, this crosses the historical fiction and fantasy genres, allowing for a completely unique story. Spanning centuries, significant moments in history and even post-Brexit future, this novel will captivate with its superb characters, stories within stories and mysteries to be solved - and all in less than 300 pages. Genius.
