I enjoyed this one, but there were a bit too many religious overtones for me. I was there for all of the Milton parallels, and I'm happy with religion as literature, but Thronos' sanctimoniousness (??) got old quickly. The plot, however, was aces, and I did like the interplay between Thronos and Melanthe.

Kresley Cole's murder wall for this series must look like an intricate mosaic. Amazing.

He's a bigot and a religious zealot, she's a slut. Why are they together? Beats me! Didn't seem they like each other that much.

childhood friends to enemies to lovers❗ name a better trope amiright?

the misunderstandings were very frustrating but I find were necessary to the story.

Coming off the heels of reading two rather disturbing realistic fictions books about sociopaths, I was ready for some fluffy, paranormal lovin'. It seems I forgot that these books aren't so fluffy, rather violent actually, I mean a supernatural war is raging unbeknownst to us humans, but nonetheless, as expected from this series, this book is hot and exciting!

From one of my favorite book series this book was not what I hoped it would be. I wanted to rate it with two stars but the last thirty pages starred it up.
For some reason I liked the characters but the whole story did not sit well with me. The smut parts were too many and annoyed me.

I love this author and her books. I thought the last one I read was my favorite, but this one is great. I loved the imagery of the world and the conflicts the hero and heroine where put into. Not only was there plenty of action, but the emotional depth and growth of the characters was spellbinding. Can't wait for the next book.

This has been my least favourite of IAD so far. I just didn’t vibe with thronos.

Also the sex sheet.

After a long hiatus, I have finally gotten back into this series. Unfortunately, Melanthe and Thronos's book reminded me of why I needed the break.

Neither Thronos nor Melanthe are particularly appealing characters as they are both prejudiced judgemental and annoyingly whiny. Their romance is boring and tedious, and their chemistry is non-existent despite the numerous sex scenes, which lack even one iota of intimacy. Aside from the fated mates trope, it is unclear why either one would want to spend two minutes, let alone eternity, in each other's company. Finally, their constant snipping and bickering are not at all appealing (and this is from someone who adores love-hate relationships).

The writing is long-winded and unnecessarily repetitious. Some of the dialogue is simply ridiculous, and I am so over the silly gangsta-speak - this may have been original and humorous at the beginning of the series, but now it is just irritating. While there are some interesting developments in the Ascension story arc, these are few and far between.

The next book is once again about two completely new characters. Perhaps this is a good thing as this book was certainly a dud.

Really good book!! A deep and emotional enemy to lovers, or better childhood friends to enemy and finally ti lovers. Lovely book with very lovable characters.
