Lizzie has just arrived in London to learn how to be a good housewife before her mother's dream for her to have a white wedding with a groom chosen by her parents takes place. Lizzie is determined to have some fun first. She soon finds herself living in a rundown house with some girls off her course and finds herself more and more attracted to a man already pledged to another. Will she be able to forget about him?

I absolutely love Katie Fforde. I have read everything that she has written and her new book is usually my annual birthday gift off my son. This is a different style of book for Katie. Although it is still a romance it is set in the 1960s so uses very different language and and ideas; very appropriate to the era that is is set in. If I am honest, it's not my favourite of her books, but that is probably because I don't especially enjoy books set in the 60s. Despite this the characters were very likeable (except for one which it was clear we were supposed to dislike throughout) and I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

This was a nice read, easy to follow and enjoyable. I loved the setting of the 60s but it often did get lost. Katie really knows how to write a hero and boy did I love Hugo!
Interesting take on the 60s and how life was, I'd recommend to any Katie Fforde fans!

Another lovely romantic read from Katie Fforde. Well rounded likeable characters.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend to family and friends.

Many thanks to the publishers via NetGalley for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

I struggled to get into this book and considered just giving up after the first 100 or so pages. I ploughed on and I’m fairly happy to say I did as it did improve. Not Fforde’s best work in my opinion, but a pleasant read nonetheless.

Even if this is not my favorite Katie Fforde I can say it's a pleasant and enjoyable story.
Lizzie a bit too meek for my taste but i liked her evolution.
The plot is well written and flows, the characters are well thought and the historical background vivid.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

What an absolutely lovely book! I’ve stayed up until 1am as I was enjoying it so much, I won’t even regret it in the morning. Katie Fforde’s books are always well written, the storylines pull you in and the characters are interesting, this book is no exception. It’s set in the 60’s, which is an era I haven’t read much about and I really enjoyed the difference in women’s roles in society and understanding more about the expectations placed upon them. Lizzie is likeable and I grew to like her more as the book progressed and we saw what she was made of, I also loved the way her friendships were written about. This was a light and lovely read, perfect for cheering you up and settling a crowded mind.
Thank you so much to netgalley, the author and publishers for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review

This was my first time reading a book set in the 1960s era in London. I enjoyed it but I really think it needed something more. The whole story was kinda meh, also insta-love is not for me.
