atmospheric, engaging story that manages to feel joyful while exploring heavy themes such as grief and the complicated legacy of flawed parents. the characters are so human, their virtues and flaws presented without judgment. i love that characters' emotions and decisions accurately reflect their age and the stage of life they're in.

i also loved the descriptions of food—i need to make a batch of cornbread asap.

A sweet book, happily not saccharine though.

I deeply enjoyed listening to this book. I really loved the tendrils of ghosts lingering amongst each character and why their specific ghost sticks around. Zoey is so very young and you can’t help but hope nothing bad happens to her. She moves into her late mother’s apartment at the Dellawisp to learn who she was. She meets now friends and brings new meaning to the Dellawisp along the way. It’s a sweet book with a satisfying ending.

This may just be me, but I liked all of the characters except for Zoey - she felt a little too Mary Sueish for me and didn't have a very memorable personality. Also the plot was kind of basic. Good plot twists at the end though!

This one was okay. I didn't really understand or know what the point of the book was for a lot of it.
A girl moves to this condo complex where her now dead mother used to live. She never fit in with her dad, stepmom, and step-siblings. Other residents are reclusive until the most annoying resident dies. The girl, Zoey, gets the residents to talk and be friends.
A story about the ghosts of our past impacting our present lives/futures and letting go of them. Meh

This book took me by surprise and surpassed every expectation I had for it. It invited you in for tea and just when you settle in, fairy lights flickered on, and new part of the story appears to redirect the story. Exquisitely written!
